An Enjoyable Affair

Birthday of Great Emancipator Fittingly Observed

The Lincoln Day banquet given by the Masonic orders of the city at their lodge room last Thursday evening proved to be one of the most enjoyable affairs of the season. After the supper J. Mason Soper, chairman of the entertainment committee, stated that Masonic bodies never commenced business of importance without first invoking the blessings of Deity and called on Rev. Glenn Stewart for the invocation. Frank C. Arms acted as toastmaster in his usual easy manner and the following program was given and well received.

Presentation of Past Masters’ Apron to Leonard Jones and Lemuel Dunkin by Grand Lecturer Kingsley and responses by the recipients.

The supper was prepared under the direction of W. G. Shane and was good and well served. The occasion Of the banquet was three-fold: 1st. To celebrate Lincoln’s birthday; 2nd, the demobilization of the lodge flag, and 3rd, The fact that the lodge now entirely free from debt and for the remainder of the 99 year lease will have no rent to pay.
