Hiram Shipman

Obituary.

Hiram Shipman was born in 1834, in Saratoga, N. Y.; moved to Michigan in 1856; was married to Miss Ethel D. Smith in 1860. Died Sept. 1887. He had early learned the art of industry and the value of character, and was an unselfish worker. He was deeply interested in ail that was vitai to the general good-those societies that looked after the development of the soil, those that looked after the business interests, those that sought the education of mind and heart; in fact he had a good word and a helping hand for every worthy enterprise. He was a public spirited man, a noble spirited man, a true gentleman. Much more might be said, but he needs it not; his memory will be fresh and dear when the hand that writes this is sleeping in the dust.
