Mrs. Mary Gates has returned home from Howell where she has been spending a week with relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Orville Nickle and Miss Ruth West spent Sunday in Sunfield. Geo. McCarger left Tuesday evening for Texas to try and regain his health. The pupils of his room held a reception ‘for him at Geo. Potter’s Saturday evening and presented him a chain and masonic charm. His successor, Mr. Harrington of Olivet college, began work Tuesday morning.

A. E. Howell was in Grand Rapids the first of the week. Quite a number from here attended the West Michigan fair this week.

The bean crop is reported as entirely ruined in these parts by the heavy rains of the last few days.
