The 23d Birthday Anniversary of Mrs. Wm. Beetham.
Mrs. William Beetham was tendered an enjoyable surprise party Thursday evening at her home on Marsac between 22d and 23d streets, the occasion being her 23rrd birthday. There was a large assemblage of invited guests from the two cities. The parlors were handsomely decorated with flags and flowers and the lawn was illuminated with Chinese lanterns. At 11 o’clock Alderman Doyle rose and in a well-timed speech presented a beautiful lady’s gold watch to Mrs. Beetham, on behalf of her husband. Delicious refreshments were then served, after which a couple of hours were spent in happy social intercourse. A fine display of fireworks was given at midnight. Mahar and wife; brogue inkstand, Ed. Mahar and wife; blue plush hand painted palette, A. M. Beaudin and wife; hand painted table scarf, Misses Maggie and Celia Leiphan; water set, Mrs. P. Doyle and Mrs. T. Beetham dress pattern, Anthony Sova and wife; bottle of “Hiawatha” perfumery, F. A. Tepoorten and wife; ornamental belt, Miss Sarah J. Beetham. The gold watch presented to Mrs. Beetham by her husband is a very beautiful one and bears the following in- scription: “From Will to Rose A. Beetham, July 3, 1890.”
