Hilliker Family Quietly Observes Golden Wedding

Last Saturday Mr. and Mrs. George W. Hilliker of 411 East Jefferson street had the privilege of enjoying the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage.

Mr. and Mrs. Hilliker were married on Jan. 20, 1873, in Roxand by Rev. C. G. Thomas, locating on the farm where they resided until 1904, when they moved to another farm and remained two years, coming to Grand Ledge in 1906.

While they never had any children of their own, they made a home for and brought up four. They are pioneers of Eaton county, and have been identified with the M. E. church and Masonic fraternities for many years, Mr. Hilliker being a 32nd degree mason.

Their golden wedding day was passed at home, quietly. The bride of a half century remarked, “The Lord has been very gracious to us.”
