Death of W. R. Billings
William R. Billings was born in this city, February 24, 1844, and died at Lake Ann, Mich., March 12, aged 59years.
He was married to Helen A. Miller, June 29, 1865. She died October 5, 1893. He then married Lizzie Barnes, May 20, 1897.
Deceased fought for his country during the stirring times of 1861-65, enlisting in the 7th. Michigan at the breaking out of the rebellion.
He leaves a widow and three children, Llewellyn of Detroit, Leonard of Cleveland and Mrs. E. M. Saxton of Lansing.
Mr. Billings was a prominent farmer of Delta before removing to this city, where he engaged in the implement business. He was a member of the city council during the years 1894-95. He was a member of the Masonic order in this city, also a Knight Templar, being affiliated with Lansing Commandery.
Funeral services were conducted at the Congregational church on Sunday by the Masonic fraternity, interment at Oakwood cemetery.
