Resident of Eaton County for Sixty-three Years Passes On
William Henry Hill was born April 5, 1841, in Orleans county, N. Y., and died at his home on DeGroff St. Tuesday, December 10. Mr. Hill came to Eaton county with his parents at the age of eight, and lived for many years near Sunfield. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Childs, August 4, 1861. He enlisted in 1863, serving 21 months, unt’ the close of the war, in Co. H, 5th Mich. Heavy Artillery.
The deceased leaves to mourn their loss the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Alice Coolbaugh of Hastings, four sons, John of this city, Marcus and George of Potterville and Charles of Sears, Mich., 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hill was commander of Earl Halbert Post No. 108, G. A. R. and a member of the Masonic order. He was a very well known citizen, who will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends. The funeral services were held yesterday at one o’clock from the home, conducted by Rev. J. E. Foote; burial in Oakwood cemetery.
