Cornelius Powell Died in Hospital, Funeral Monday

Cornelius E. Powell, aged 46, passed away in Harper hospital, Detroit, last Saturday morning. He was taken to Detroit a week ago Tuesday for an operation. Mr. Powell was employed in the Grand Ledge Chair Company’s plant where he worked until a month ago when his health began to fail.

The funeral services were held at The home on Jones street Monday afternoon under the auspices of the Masonic lodge.

Mrs. Margaret Burtless, second reader from the First Christian Science church inLansing was present and read a beautiful service. The interment was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Powell was born in Chicago, Ill.. Nov. 5th, 1878. He came to Grand Ledge with his family about 18 years ago. His marriage occurred in Nov. 1909. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Edith, Josephine and Kathryn, a son, Edgar, his

mother Mrs. Agnes Powell; two brothers, Desmond and Charles, and A sister, Mrs. Ward Wallace. Besides being a Mason he was a member of the Odd Fellow and Woodman lodges.
